...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT COCKE AND SOUTHWESTERN GREENE

COUNTIES THROUGH 300 PM EDT...



At 220 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7

miles south of Parrottsville, or 9 miles southeast of Newport. This

thunderstorm was nearly stationary.



HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 

         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is 

         possible.



Locations impacted include...

Newport, Parrottsville, Caney Branch, Del Rio, and Bybee.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. 



Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to

localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded

roadways.



Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
