...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTH CENTRAL SULLIVAN...EASTERN

WASHINGTON...NORTHEASTERN UNICOI AND SOUTHWESTERN CARTER COUNTIES

THROUGH 300 PM EDT...



At 218 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near

Pine Crest, or 7 miles northeast of Erwin. This thunderstorm was

nearly stationary.



HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 

         unsecured objects.



Locations impacted include...

Johnson City, Elizabethton, Erwin, Jonesborough, Central, Midway,

Pine Crest, Banner Hill, Unicoi, and Bluff City.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. 



Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to

localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded

roadways.



Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.

Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe

shelter inside a building or vehicle.



Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until

this storm passes.
