...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT CENTRAL LAFAYETTE...SOUTHEASTERN

ACADIA AND NORTH CENTRAL VERMILION PARISHES THROUGH 930 AM CDT...



At 852 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near

Wright, or near Gueydan, moving northeast at 25 mph.



HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 

         unsecured objects.



Locations impacted include...

Lafayette, Scott, Rayne, Broussard, Youngsville, Duson, Maurice,

Morse, Indian Bayou, Lyons Point, Ridge, Mire, and Milton.



This includes Interstate 10 in Louisiana between mile markers 88 and

100.

 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. 



Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to

localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded

roadways.



This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio

stations and available television stations for additional information

and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
