...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT CENTRAL FLORENCE...DILLON AND

NORTHWESTERN MARION COUNTIES THROUGH 630 PM EDT...



At 559 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over

Claussen, or 9 miles southeast of Florence, moving northeast at 55

mph.



HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 

         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is 

         possible.



Locations impacted include...

Mcleod Medical Center, Fork, Blue Brick, Zion, Hamer, Hyman, Dillon,

Mars Bluff, Oak Grove, South Of The Border, Pamplico, Francis Marion

University, Latta, Bingham, Floydale, Smithboro, Sellers, Claussen,

Marion, and Little Rock.



This includes Interstate 95 in South Carolina between mile markers

175 and 198.

 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. 



Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to

localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded

roadways.



This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio

stations and available television stations for additional information

and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.



A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM EDT for

southeastern North Carolina...and northeastern South Carolina.
