NORTHWESTERN YORK AND EAST CENTRAL CHEROKEE COUNTIES THROUGH 1230 PM

At 1144 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 10

miles northwest of York, or near Smyrna, moving east at 30 mph.



HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 

         unsecured objects.



Locations impacted include...

Crowders, Kings Creek, Clover, Lake Wylie, Kings Mountain State Park,

Smyrna, Bethany, Hickory Grove, South Gastonia, and York.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. 



Conditions are favorable for development of a very brief, weak

tornado. Be prepared to take immediate action if a tornado is sighted

or a Tornado Warning is issued.
