* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures generally 29 to 32, but as low as 

  26 in some high elevation locations.



* WHERE...A portion of the western North Carolina mountains.



* WHEN...Until 9 AM EDT this morning.



* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other 

  sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor 

  plumbing.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. In-ground 

sprinkler systems should be drained. Remove hoses and cover 

above-ground pipes.

  mountainous western parts of Rutherford and Polk counties.



* WHEN...Until 9 AM EDT this morning.



* IMPACTS...Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. Sensitive 

  outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.
