...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 200 AM CDT

FOR NORTHERN JACKSON AND NORTHEASTERN DEKALB COUNTIES...



At 143 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line

extending from near Bridgeport to 6 miles south of Stevenson to near

Scottsboro, moving east at 30 mph.



HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.



Locations impacted include...

Martintown, Long Island, Russell Cave National Monument, Higdon,

Fackler, Ider, Bridgeport, Hollywood, Pisgah, and Rosalie.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 300 AM CDT for north central

and northeastern Alabama.



Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly

from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the

basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.



For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of 

a building. This storm has produced widespread tree and power line 

damage in Jackson County, including the city of Scottsboro! 



Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.

Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading

killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to

be struck by lightning.
