SOUTHEASTERN MACOUPIN AND NORTHEASTERN MADISON COUNTIES IN

SOUTHWESTERN ILLINOIS...



At 623 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Worden, or 7

miles southwest of Staunton, moving east at 40 mph.



HAZARD...Ping pong ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.



SOURCE...Trained spotters reported.



IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail

         damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind

         damage to roofs, siding, and trees.



Locations impacted include...

  Prairietown, Carpenter, Hamel, Worden, Staunton, Kaufman,

  Livingston, Williamson, Alhambra and New Douglas.



This includes Interstate 55 in Illinois between exits 30 and 41.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from

windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds and has

produced large hail.
