...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1145 PM CDT

FOR NORTHWESTERN MADISON COUNTY IN SOUTHWESTERN ILLINOIS...



At 1059 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Godfrey,

moving east at 50 mph.



HAZARD...Two inch hail and 60 mph wind gusts.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail

         damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind

         damage to roofs, siding, and trees.



This severe thunderstorm will be near...

  Alton, Godfrey and West Alton around 1100 PM CDT.

  East Alton, Rosewood Heights and Hartford around 1105 PM CDT.

  Bethalto, Wood River, Roxana, Dorsey and South Roxana around 1110

  PM CDT.



Other locations impacted by the severe thunderstorm include

Fosterburg, Hamel, Fruit, Kaufman and Williamson.



This includes the following highways...

Interstate 55 in Illinois between exits 23 and 37. Interstate 70 in

Illinois near exit 21.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Anyone outdoors should move to shelter inside a well-built structure

and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing

dangerous hail and damaging winds.
