An active monsoon pattern has developed across Western Micronesia

with recent satellite imagery showing broad areas of heavy showers

and thunderstorms. Midday satellite-derived surface wind data depicts

15 to 20 mph west winds across Western Yap State and Palau. 



Computer models point to a continuation of these conditions into

midweek with periods of heavy showers moving across the islands, 

occasionally bringing increased winds, gusts and choppy seas. Both 

Yap and Palau are in the monsoon inflow of JTWC's Invest 91W, (that

is located near 11N144E between Yap and Guam). As 91W continues to

organize showers are expected to remain widespread and heavy at

times. Model guidance suggest up to 1 to 2 inches of rain a day

through Wednesday, then tapering down to about 0.5 inch for the 

following few days.



Residents should continue to monitor forecasts and listen for any 

marine advisories that may be issued over the next several days. Be
