...RED FLAG WARNING THROUGH SATURDAY AFTERNOON FOR MAINLY LEEWARD

AREAS DUE TO WINDY CONDITIONS AND LOW HUMIDITY...



.Dry and windy conditions will persist as high pressure moves 

east and strengthens north of the islands. After a brief period of

increased moisture tonight, another pocket of drier air will move

into the region again on Friday, and could continue for at least

portions of the state into Saturday. Highest confidence in Red 

Flag conditions will be for Friday from late morning through the 

afternoon hours, when lowest relative humidity values coincide 

with the strongest expected wind speeds.

...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM HST SATURDAY FOR

WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR MAINLY LEEWARD AREAS...



* AFFECTED AREA...Leeward portions of all Hawaiian Islands,

  including interior sections of Oahu and the Big Island and all

  of North Big Island.



* TIMING...Until 6 PM HST Saturday. The main fire weather concerns

  will be Friday from late morning through the afternoon hours

  when relative humidity is lowest. It is possible that dry and

  windy conditions will persist to include Saturday as well.



* WINDS...For Friday, east winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55

  mph. On Saturday, east winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph.



* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 40 percent.



* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. 

  Outdoor burning is not recommended.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions

are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong

winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can

contribute to extreme fire behavior. A Red Flag Warning does not

predict new fire starts.
