EVENING...



* WHAT...Snow and blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations 

  between 3 and 8 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. 

  Visibility as low as one half mile.



* WHERE...Cordova and Tatitlek.



* WHEN...Until 7 PM AKDT this evening.



* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow 

  and or snowfall rates of one inch or more per hour in heavier snow 

  showers could significantly reduce visibility.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The combination of snow and wind may result 

  in localized areas of blowing snow that could significantly reduce 

  visibility at times. Snow showers will continue through tonight 

  with additional snow accumulations possible. However, winds are 

  expected to diminish by later this evening.

  rates of one inch per hour in heavy snow showers.



* WHERE...Girdwood, Portage and Turnagain Pass.



* WHEN...Until 4 AM AKDT Friday.



* IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult. The hazardous conditions 

  could impact the evening commute.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Bands of heavy snow showers will develop this 

  afternoon and move over the area. Very low density snow will be 

  easily suspended by vehicles, leading to low visibility.

  one half mile at times due to blowing snow.



* WHERE...Whittier.



* WHEN...Until 4 AM AKDT Friday.



* IMPACTS...Visibility reduced to one half mile at times. Travel 

  could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact 

  commutes.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Periods of snow showers are expected to move 

  through the area. Strong westerly winds coinciding with snow 

  showers could lead to sudden drops in visibility. Plan extra time 

  if traveling and prepare for rapidly changing conditions.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow showers will continue through tonight 

  with additional snow accumulations possible. However, the strong 

  northeasterly winds are expected to shift more easterly this 

  evening and diminish slightly in intensity, reducing the potential 

  for blowing snow.
