DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 100 AM CHST...1500 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Mekkhala

was located near Latitude 14.6 degrees North and Longitude

134.8 degrees East. Mekkhala is moving west at 16 mph. It is

expected to make a slight turn toward the west-northwest with

little change in forward speed through Monday. This general forecast

track could bring Mekkhala near Okinawa around Thursday.



Maximum sustained winds have increased to 60 mph. Mekkhala is

forecast to intensify through Monday, possibly becoming a typhoon

Sunday night.



Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to

140 miles to the north and up to 60 miles to the south.
