The National Weather Service in League City has issued a



* Special Marine Warning for...

  Coastal waters from Freeport to Matagorda Ship Channel TX out 20

  NM...

  Coastal waters from High Island to Freeport TX out 20 NM...

  Galveston Bay...

  Matagorda Bay...



* Until 515 AM CDT.



* At 319 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing

  waterspouts were located along a line extending from 44 nm

  northwest of Burnet Bay to 26 nm west of Crystal Bay to 39 nm 

  north of East Matagorda Bay, moving east at 30 knots. Brief areas 

  of rotation have been indicated along the eastern end of this line 

  of storms. In addition to strong winds, brief waterspouts may spin 

  up within this line, especially for waters around Galveston bay.



  HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts to nearly 50 knots.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally 

           hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly 

           higher winds and suddenly higher waves.
