...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING...



* WHAT...High risk of rip currents expected and minor coastal flooding 

  possible.



* WHERE...Gulf-facing beaches, including the Matagorda 

  Peninsula, Brazoria County beaches, Galveston Island and the 

  Bolivar Peninsula.



* WHEN...Through Saturday evening.



* IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from 

  shore into deeper water. Flooding of lots, parks, and roads possible.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Localized minor coastal flooding will be possible

  during times of high tide and mainly near Galveston Bay. Water levels 

  are expected to be around 3.5-3.9 ft above MLLW during high tide cycles 

  this afternoon.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.
