The north to northeast swell has subsided enough to allow the surf to

fall below hazardous levels at Palau and Chuuk. Surf will still be

elevated with strong rip currents likely.

* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 8 to 11 feet.



* WHERE...North facing reefs of Yap.



* WHEN...Until 5 PM ChST Saturday.



* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and

  localized beach erosion.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Long period northeasterly swell from distant

  low pressure systems will continue to produce hazardous surf of 8

  to 11 feet along north facing reefs of Yap. Surf will gradually 

  diminish over the next few days, possibly falling below hazardous 

  levels Saturday afternoon.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to

dangerous surf conditions.
