...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 AM CHST FRIDAY...



* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 7 to 10 feet.



* WHERE...North facing reefs of Pohnpei and Kosrae.



* WHEN...Until 3 AM ChST Friday.



* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and

  localized beach erosion.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Elevated long-period north to northeast 

  swells, produced by distant mid-latitude frontal systems, will 

  continue to produce hazardous surf along north facing reefs of 

  Pohnpei and Kosrae through at least late tonight. North swell 

  and associated surf will gradually diminish through the next day

  or so, but latest model guidance indicates the advisory may 

  need to be extended or reissued for the weekend for north facing

  reefs of Pohnpei, and possibly Kosrae, as another pulse of 

  north swell enters the region.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to

dangerous surf conditions.
