The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a



* Special Marine Warning for...

  Kaiwi Channel...

  Kauai Channel...

  Maui County Leeward Waters...

  Maui County Windward Waters...

  Oahu Leeward Waters...

  Oahu Windward Waters...



* Until 545 AM HST.



* At 342 AM HST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing

  waterspouts was located 8 nm southwest of Ala Wai Harbor, or 8 nm

  southwest of Waikiki, moving northeast at 40 knots.



  HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts in excess of 50 knots, and small 

           hail.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally 

           hazardous seas. Boats could suffer significant structural 

           damage in high winds. Small craft could capsize in 

           suddenly higher waves.



* Locations impacted include...

  Mokulua Islands, Ilio Point, Heeia Kea Boat Harbor, FAD Buoy J, FAD

  Buoy CO, FAD Buoy II, FAD Buoy MM, and Pearl Harbor.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Prepare for gusty winds, steep and fast-building seas, and blinding

downpours. Stay low or go below, and make sure all on board are

wearing life jackets.
