...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM CDT THIS EVENING...



* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.



* WHERE...A portion of west central Texas, including the following 

  counties, Northern Fisher and Northwestern Jones Counties.



* WHEN...Until 1100 PM CDT.



* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 

  Street flooding in Rotan, Hitson and Hamlin.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 859 PM CDT, radar indicated heavy rain due to

    thunderstorms with heavy rain repeatedly tracking across

    northern Fisher into northwestern Jones Counties. Rainfall

    amounts of 1 to 2.5 inches have already occurred, and up to

    an additional inch of rain is expected. Minor flooding is

    ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area.

  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...

    Hamlin, Rotan, Neinda and Hitson.

  - This includes the following Low Water Crossings...

    SH 70 crossing The Draw Southeast of Rotan, FM 611 crossing 1

    mile west of Rotan and FM 611 crossing 7 miles west of Rotan.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 

dangers of flooding.
