...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EDT THIS MORNING...



* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.



* WHERE...A portion of southwest North Carolina, including the 

  following counties, Cherokee and Clay.



* WHEN...Until 1100 AM EDT.



* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 

  River or stream flows are elevated.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 733 AM EDT, trained weather spotters reported heavy rain

    and minor flooding in the advisory area due to thunderstorms.

    Minor flooding is already occurring. Between 3 and 4 inches

    of rain have fallen over the past 24 hours.

  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected

    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor

    flooding.

  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...

    Andrews, Murphy, Hayesville, Tusquitee, Brasstown, Marble,

    Shooting Creek, Topton and Culberson.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.
