...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in 

Illinois...



  Skillet Fork River at Wayne City affecting White and Wayne 

  Counties.



.The Skillet Fork River has crested and will fall below flood stage 

Tuesday evening.



For the Skillet Fork River...including Wayne City...Major flooding 

is forecast.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 

dangers of flooding.



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.



Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive 

cars through flooded areas.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING...



* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. 

  This approaches the flood of record.



* WHERE...Skillet Fork River at Wayne City.



* WHEN...Until early Wednesday morning.



* IMPACTS...At 26.7 feet, This flood will exceed the highest stage 

  on record.  Large amounts of property damage can be expected.  

  Evacuation of many homes and businesses becomes necessary.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 10:00 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 24.9 feet.

  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours

    ending at 10:00 AM CDT Sunday was 25.4 feet.

  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage

    Tuesday evening and continue falling to 8.3 feet Friday

    morning.

  - Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
