...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1015 AM CDT TUESDAY...



* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring. 



* WHERE...A portion of northwest Indiana, including the following 

  counties, Lake IN and Porter.



* WHEN...Until 1015 AM CDT Tuesday.



* IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. 

  Low-lying areas such as fields and ditches may be flooded.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 1130 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges

    indicate that between 1 and 3 inches of rain has fallen

    earlier this evening. Incoming showers and thunderstorms may

    cause an additional inch of rain to fell in the next few

    hours. The combined effects of previous and incoming rainfall

    may cause flooding to continue into Tuesday morning.

  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...

    Gary, Portage, Merrillville, Valparaiso, Schererville,

    Hobart, Highland, Munster, Chesterton, Griffith, Dyer, Lake

    Station, Lynwood, South Haven, Porter, New Chicago, Burns

    Harbor, Ogden Dunes, Town of Pines and Beverly Shores.

A Flood Advisory means minor flooding along waterways and other poor 

drainage areas is imminent or may already be occurring. Persons in 

the advisory area should use caution and avoid flood waters.
