...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1215 AM CDT FRIDAY 

FOR SOUTHEASTERN BORDEN, NORTHEASTERN HOWARD, NORTHERN MITCHELL AND 

SCURRY COUNTIES...



At 1006 PM CDT, the Snyder Fire Department reported flash flooding 

on several streets in Snyder, including 17th, 19th, 25th, 26th, Ave 

O, and near the Water Plant. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have 

fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring. Rain will quickly be 

tapering off through 1030 PM CDT, but flooding may persist until 

shortly after midnight as runoff from the heavy rain continues.



HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.



SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.



IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,

         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor

         drainage and low-lying areas.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Snyder, Colorado City, Coahoma, J B Thomas Reservoir, Colorado 

  City Airport, Lake Colorado City, Fluvanna, Lake Colorado City 

  State Park, Inadale, Westbrook, Ira, Knapp, Winston Field, 

  Randalls Corner, Cuthbert, Dunn, Buford, Vincent and Hermleigh.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 

dangers of flooding.
