...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 230 AM CDT EARLY THIS 

MORNING FOR NORTHERN LAKE IN COUNTY...



At 119 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy 

rain across the warned area. The expected rainfall rate is 2 to 3 

inches in 1 hour. This will cause rapid flash flooding across the 

warned area.



HAZARD...Flash flooding.

IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage

         ditches, streets, underpasses, low-lying areas, and

         other poor drainage areas.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Hammond, Gary, East Chicago, Highland, Munster, Griffith, Lake 

  Station and Whiting.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



A Flash Flood Warning means rapid-onset flooding is imminent or may 

already be occurring. Persons along creeks, drainage ditches, and 

other waterways should take immediate precautions to protect life 

and property.
