...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 130 AM CDT EARLY THIS 

MORNING FOR SOUTHEASTERN COOK AND NORTHWESTERN WILL COUNTIES...



At 1244 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 

heavy rain across the warned area. The expected rainfall rate is 2 

to 3 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches 

are possible in the warned area, especially near the Indiana state 

line. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.



HAZARD...Flash flooding.

IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage

         ditches, streets, underpasses, low-lying areas, and

         other poor drainage areas.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Chicago, Joliet, Hammond, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Calumet City, 

  Chicago Heights, Roseland, Lansing, Oak Forest, Harvey, Lockport, 

  New Lenox, Homer Glen, Blue Island, Dolton, Homewood, Alsip, 

  Matteson and Mokena.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



A Flash Flood Warning means rapid-onset flooding is imminent or may 

already be occurring. Persons along creeks, drainage ditches, and 

other waterways should take immediate precautions to protect life 

and property.
