...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1130 PM CDT THIS 

EVENING FOR SOUTHEASTERN COOK AND NORTHWESTERN LAKE IN COUNTIES...



At 935 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 

that rainfall rates have diminished across the warned area. Up to 5 

inches of rain have fallen due to earlier thunderstorms. Flooding is 

expected to continue for the next several hours.



HAZARD...Flash flooding.

IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage

         ditches, streets, underpasses, low-lying areas, and

         other poor drainage areas.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Chicago, Hammond, Gary, Calumet City, East Chicago, Lansing, 

  Munster, Dolton, South Holland, South Deering, Whiting, East Side, 

  Hegewisch, Riverdale and Burnham.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



A Flash Flood Warning means rapid-onset flooding is imminent or may 

already be occurring. Persons along creeks, drainage ditches, and 

other waterways should take immediate precautions to protect life 

and property.
