...Forecast flooding changed from Minor to Major severity and 

increased in duration for the following rivers in Washington...



  Samish River At Burlington affecting Skagit County.



.Phase 2 of this atmospheric river flood event is well underway with 

moderate to heavy rain back over the region driving rivers back up 

with new flooding.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive 

cars through flooded areas.



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 

dangers of flooding.



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL LATE TOMORROW EVENING...



* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. 



* WHERE...Samish River at Burlington.



* WHEN...Until late tomorrow evening.



* IMPACTS...At 11,000.0 cfs, the Samish River will experience major 

  flooding from Old Hwy 99 down to Samish Bay, with flooding of most 

  areas of farm land along the river and further away, including Old 

  Hwy 99. Samish Island Road will flood, cutting off Samish Island. 

  There will also be flooding of residences, businesses, and the 

  following roads: Sam Bell, Farm To Market, Allen, Thomas, Green, 

  and Steelhead Lane. Levees will overtop and could breech.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 6:00 PM PST Wednesday the flow was 3,280.0 cfs.

  - Flood flow is 3,000.0 cfs.

  - Recent Activity...The maximum river flow in the 24 hours

    ending at 6:00 PM PST Wednesday was 3,320.0 cfs.

  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of

    11,327.5 cfs late this evening. It will then fall below flood

    stage tomorrow afternoon.
