increased in duration for the following rivers in Washington...



  North Fork Stillaguamish River Near Arlington affecting Snohomish 

  County.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive 

cars through flooded areas.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL LATE TOMORROW EVENING...



* WHAT...Major flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of 

  record.



* WHERE...North Fork Stillaguamish River near Arlington.



* WHEN...Until late tomorrow evening.



* IMPACTS...At 15.0 feet, the North Fork Stillaguamish River will 

  cause extensive flooding from near Darrington downstream to the 

  confluence with the South Fork Stillaguamish River...including 

  Oso...Cicero...Swede Heaven and SR 530.  Flood waters will also 

  cause riverbank erosion.  Flooding will occur all along the river 

  including headwaters...tributaries...and other streams within and 

  near the N Fork Stillaguamish River Basin. A stage of 15 feet 

  corresponds to Phase 4 in the Snohomish County Flood Warning 

  System.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 5:15 PM PST Wednesday the stage was 13.0 feet.

  - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 15.6

    feet late tonight. It will then fall below flood stage early

    tomorrow afternoon.
