...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 1015 AM CDT TUESDAY...



* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring. 



* WHERE...Portions of northeast Illinois, including the following 

  county, Cook and northwest Indiana, including the following 

  county, Lake IN.



* WHEN...Until 1015 AM CDT Tuesday.



* IMPACTS...Creeks and streams are rising out of their banks. 

  Low-lying areas and intersections are flooded, such as 

  Indianapolis Boulevard in Whiting, Indiana.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 1130 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauages

    indicated that between 3 and 6 inches of rain fell earlier

    this evening. Incoming showers and thunderstorms may drop an

    additional inch of rain in the next few hours. The combined

    effects of the previous and incoming rain will cause flooding

    to continue into Tuesday morning.

  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...

    Chicago, Hammond, Gary, Calumet City, East Chicago, Lansing,

    Highland, Munster, Dolton, South Holland, Griffith, South

    Deering, Lake Station, Lynwood, Glenwood, Whiting, East Side,

    Hegewisch, Riverdale and Burnham.

occurring. Persons along rivers, creeks, and other waterways should 

take immediate precautions to protect life and property.
