...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 730 PM HST THIS EVENING FOR 

THE ISLAND OF MAUI IN MAUI COUNTY...



* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.



* WHERE...The island of Maui in Maui County.



* WHEN...Until 730 PM HST.



* IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in 

  streams.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 402 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over Maui with the

    heaviest rain rates across the western half of Maui. Rain was

    falling at a rate of 0.5 to 1.5 inches per hour. Additional

    bands of moderate to locally heavy showers are expected

    through this evening.

  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...

    Kahului, Kihei, Lahaina, Kula, Pukalani, Makawao, Keokea,

    Haliimaile, Paia, Puunene, Haiku-Pauwela, Wailea, Pauwela,

    Maalaea, Ulupalakua, Huelo, Makena, Waikapu, Wailuku and

    Waiehu.





PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone 

to flooding.



A Flood Watch is also in effect for Maui until Sunday 6PM HST.

persists.
