...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM AST THIS AFTERNOON...



* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.



* WHERE...Arroyo, Guayama, Maunabo, Patillas and Yabucoa.



* WHEN...Until 500 PM AST.



* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 

  Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Dangerous flows 

  over low-water crossings. Water over roadways. Overflowing poor 

  drainage areas. River or stream flows are elevated.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 139 PM AST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Minor

    flooding is ongoing in the advisory area. Up to 4.5 inches of

    rain have fallen in Patillas, with 1 to 4 inches elsewhere in

    the advisory area.

  - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected

    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor

    flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.



Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law 

enforcement and request they pass this information to the National 

Weather Service when you can do so safely.
