...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM AST THIS MORNING...



* WHAT...Small stream flooding due to excess runoff from earlier 

  rainfall is expected.



* WHERE...Areas along Rio Grande near El Verde.



* WHEN...Until 1100 AM AST.



* IMPACTS...Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from 

  earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and 

  may not be passable.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 800 AM AST, USGS river sensors indicated that Rio Grande

    near El Verde is out of its banks due to excessive runoff.

    Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the

    warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.

  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the

    warned area.

  - Flooding possible in Sector Galateo. Road PR-956, near km

    0.5, could become impassable.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law 

enforcement and request they pass this information to the National 

Weather Service when you can do so safely.
