To: Subscribers: -NOAA Weather Wire Service -Emergency management officials -News media -Other NWS Users From: Chris Morris, Senior Service Hydrologist NWS Austin/San Antonio TX Subject: Service Change Notice for the South Fork of the San Gabriel River at Georgetown TX (GETT2) increasing Action Stage Effective Monday, June 1, 2026, the Action Stage for the South Fork of the San Gabriel River at Georgetown, TX (GETT2) will be increased from 5ft to 7ft. The new levels for the South Fork of the San Gabriel River at Georgetown (GETT2) Current New Action Stage 5 feet 7 feet Minor Flood Stage 9 feet 9 feet Moderate Flood Stage 13 feet 13 feet Major Flood Stage 26 feet 26 feet This service change is the result of a collaborative effort to assess river impacts between the National Weather Service and local authorities. Action stage is an established gauge height which when reached by a rising stream, lake, or reservoir represents the level where action is taken in preparation for possible significant hydrologic activity. Currently, a river flow forecast is issued when the river is anticipated to rise to 5 ft based on current observations and forecast rainfall amounts. On June 1, a river flow forecast will be issued when the river is expected to rise to 7ft based on current observations and forecast rainfall amounts. The data for this forecast point is provided through our partners, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Without this critical data, forecasts and warnings would not be possible at this location.
