Hardest hit were the towns of Rose Hill and Mulvane, where most of the rain occurred in just two hours. Numerous water rescues took place and some homes had to be evacuated. One person was killed when a pickup was washed off the road in Butler county. && In 1987, severe thunderstorms that moved from Eastern Nebraska to Eastern Kansas and Western Missouri produced hail three inches in diameter and 80 mph winds. The three inch diameter hail bombarded Albion Nebraska, located 25 miles southwest of Norfolk. Baseball sized hail struck just northwest of Topeka.
