At 1015 PM AST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms capable of producing winds up to around 30 knots, frequent lightning, and isolated waterspouts. These thunderstorms were located over portions along the Mona Passage, and over portions of the offshore Atlantic waters, moving north at around 15 knots. Additional thunderstorms are expected to develop across these waters, and across the Caribbean waters. These storms are associated with the outer rainbands of Tropical Storm Melissa over the Central Caribbean Sea. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, lightning strikes, possible waterspouts and heavy downpours. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. $$
