Scattered showers will continue through this morning with the greatest coverage across San Diego County from the coast to the mountains. Showers will linger near the mountains during the afternoon and decrease during the afternoon and early evening. Dry with warming beginning on Wednesday. The warming will continue through Monday of next week with high temperatures next Monday as much as 15 to 20 degrees above average for the inland valleys and lower coastal slopes of the mountains. && .DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE... SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTIES... .Updated Aviation and Marine Discussion... .SHORT TERM (Today through Thursday)... The HREF shows scattered showers continuing through this morning with the greatest coverage across San Diego County from the coastal waters to the mountains. Showers will linger and diminish near the mountains for the afternoon and early evening. Rainfall across San Diego will generally range from one-tenth to locally one-quarter inch with isolated greater totals. Farther north, rainfall will be lighter, mostly one-tenth inch or less, with less coverage as well. The snow level will mostly fluctuate between 6000 and 7000 feet through this morning, rising to 7000 to 7500 feet for the San Bernardino County mountains for this afternoon and evening. There could be an inch or so of snowfall on the highest peaks of the mountains in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler today and as much as 15 to 20 degrees below average for the mountains. High temperatures for today will be mostly in the 60s for the coast and valleys and in the 70s for the lower deserts. Dry and warmer weather will begin on Wednesday with high temperatures as much as 15 to 20 degrees warmer for the mountains and high desert. Inland areas will warm another 5 to 10 degrees on Thursday with high temperatures for inland areas 5 to 10 degrees above average on Thursday. High temperatures on Thursday will range from around 70 near the coast, to the 80s for the Inland Empire, and in the mid 90s to around 100 for the lower deserts. && .LONG TERM (Friday through Monday)... The warming trend will continue through Monday of next week with Monday high temperatures as much as 15 to 20 degrees above average for the inland valleys, high desert, and lower coastal slopes of the mountains. High temperatures for next Monday will range from the lower to mid 70s hear the coast to the 90s to around 100 for the Inland Empire with 105 to 110 for the lower deserts. Night and morning coastal low clouds will spread into the western valleys at times. For the lower deserts, the highest Heat Risk and Heat Risk sufficient for an Extreme Heat Warning is on Sunday through Tuesday of next week. The Heat Risk most supportive for a Heat Advisory for the inland valleys is on Monday of next week. && .AVIATION... 051800Z....Coast/Valleys...SCT-BKN low clouds based 3-6 kft expected through this afternoon. Coverage will gradually become predominately BKN again after 03Z Wed with bases lowering to around 2000-3000 feet MSL overnight. Intermittent scattering through the overnight hours. Elevated westerly gusts 20-30 kts along desert slopes and into deserts with isolated gusts of 40 kts through mountain passes.
