Not much change to the 7-day forecast. Still looking at gusty southwest winds this weekend as a trough pushes through the PacNW. Widespread gusts of 20-30 mph are likely (70%), but chances for impactful winds of 40+ mph are limited to the Barstow area (25%) and the Owens Valley (25-50%). Any strong winds in the Owens Valley will be driven by localized downsloping, potentially resulting in travel impacts on US-395. Beyond the winds, the weather looks quite pleasant through at least Thursday. High temperatures will be near or slightly above normal for late October, with most locations in the 70s and 80s. Dry conditions prevail as precipitation chances remain below 10% across the area. && .AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 18Z Forecast Package...Winds today remain light and follow typical, daily patterns. Chance of 10+ knots only around 20%, and any occurrences should be brief. Breezy southwest winds develop Saturday afternoon with gusts around 15-25 knots. For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast California...For the 18Z Forecast Package...Light winds that largely follow typical, daily patterns can be expected across most of the region. The exception is the lower Colorado River Valley where northerly gusts of 15-25 knots are likely (80%) today. Winds subside in the late afternoon and evening.
