.KEY MESSAGES...



* Dry conditions and slightly above-normal temperatures prevail over 

  the next 7 days.



* A system moving into the PacNW brings gusty winds this weekend.

.DISCUSSION...through Wednesday.



The upper-level low that sparked the storms yesterday and overnight 

has quickly moved off to our east, leaving us under dry, 

northwesterly flow. This dry weather is likely to prevail through at 

least the middle of next week, with precipitation chances remaining 

below 10%. Temperature-wise, quite pleasant conditions are forecast 

with highs 0-5 degrees above normal. Most of the area will top out 

in the 70s and 80s each day.



Over the weekend, guidance shows a broad trough pushing into the 

PacNW. While they receive a bunch of precipitation, we'll get some 

gusty winds. Currently, the most-likely scenario is widespread gusts 

of 20-40 mph. However, we'll have to keep an eye on some of the 

leeside slopes and valleys, particularly the Eastern Sierra and 

Owens Valley, for downslope potential. Should this materialize, 

travel impacts on US-395 will be likely. Winds subside early next 

week as the trough pushes east and high pressure builds in.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 06Z Forecast Package...Light 

winds follow typical wind patterns are expected through Friday 

night. Light southwest winds tonight will become easterly Friday 

afternoon before swinging back to the southwest around sunset Friday 

evening. VFR conditions will persist through the period. 



For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast 

California...For the 06Z Forecast Package...In general, light winds 

will follow typical wind patterns through the period. The exception 

will be in the Colorado River Valley where north winds will continue 

through at least Friday afternoon. Winds tonight will be under 10KT 

but are expected to increase again Friday afternoon with gusts 15-

25KT in the Colorado River Valley through about sunset. VFR and dry 

conditions are expected through the period.
