FXUS65 KVEF 020937 AFDVEF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Las Vegas NV 137 AM PST Mon Feb 2 2026 .KEY MESSAGES... * Quiet weather continues through the week with gradually warming temperatures and breezy north winds along the Colorado River Valley. * Pattern change expected this weekend. Details remain uncertain at this time. && .DISCUSSION...Today through Sunday. Ridging continues through much of the work week, resulting in quiet weather, dry conditions, and generally light winds. The exception will be along the Colorado River Valley where gusty north winds will elevate as a result of a weak shortwave passage along the flow aloft. These gusty winds will occur on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons with speeds between 25 and 35 mph, which will increase wave heights on Lake Mohave and Lake Havasu to 1 to 3 feet. Otherwise, temperatures will remain well-above normal through the forecast period, with afternoon highs 10 to 15 degrees above seasonal normals. Through the week, ensemble means continue to show a closed low off the coast of Baja California slowly moving northward along the shoreline. Late-week, this low will weaken into an open wave, phase with another incoming system from the eastern Pacific, and will push into the Desert Southwest. Details remain uncertain at this time, with ensemble ECMWF means favoring a swath of light rain across the Mojave Desert and ensemble GFS means favoring hit-or-miss sprinkles. This pattern change continues into the start of next week as troughing returns to the western CONUS. && .AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 06Z Forecast Package...Winds will follow typical daily directional patterns with speeds of less than 7 knots.
