WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: A trough of low pressure will move

eastward across Northern California today. Ahead of this trough 

of low pressure, strong, gusty southwest winds are expected in 

Northern Nevada. Southwest wind gusts near 55 mph are anticipated 

in Humboldt County this afternoon and evening. As a result, A 

Wind Advisory is in effect for Humboldt County from 11 AM PDT 

this Saturday morning until 11 PM PDT this evening. Southwest 

wind gusts near 40 mph are expected in Elko County this afternoon

and evening. Blowing dust will reduce visibilities at times. 

Travel will be difficult, particularly for high profile vehicles. 



The aforementioned trough of low pressure will progress eastward

across Northern Nevada tonight through Sunday night, resulting in

periods of precipitation. Snow levels will start at around 7,000 

feet this afternoon, before dropping to about 6,000 feet tonight.

Snow accumulations will generally be an inch or less, except in 

Jarbidge where three to five inches of snow is possible. The 

majority of precipitation will fall Sunday morning and Sunday 

afternoon. Here are probabilities of one tenth of an inch of 

precipitation or more for select locations in Northern Nevada 

tonight through Sunday night:

Zonal flow aloft will prevail Monday and Monday night. High 

temperatures across Northern and Central Nevada Monday afternoon

will be a couple of degrees below normal for this time of year. 

Apparent temperatures Monday night will be in the teens in the 

coldest valleys of Elko and White Pine Counties. A ridge of high 

pressure will amplify as it moves eastward across the Western 

United States Tuesday and Tuesday night. The primary storm track 

will remain north of the Silver State Wednesday and Thursday.

Wind Advisory for Humboldt County Saturday. High forecast

confidence regarding strong wind gusts in Elko County Saturday.

High forecast confidence in light mountain snow in Northern Nevada

Saturday night through Sunday night. High forecast confidence

regarding a cooling trend this weekend. No deviations from the NBM

model output.

VFR conditions are expected at all terminals through 12Z Sunday.

Southwest wind gusts near 35 knots are expected at KWMC and 

KBAM, starting at 17Z this morning. Southwest wind gusts near 35 

knots are anticipated at KEKO, KELY, and KTPH, beginning at 17Z 

this morning. For KWMC CIGS and VIS are expected to lower to MVFR

or lower levels after Sunday 12Z with light to moderate rain.

Reduced CIGS and VIS reach KBAM and KEKO later Sunday morning and

afternoon.

Strong southwest wind gusts are anticipated in Northern Nevada

this afternoon and evening. An atmospheric disturbance will 

progress eastward across Northern Nevada tonight through Sunday 

night, resulting in periods of precipitation. The majority of this

precipitation will fall Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon.
