(This evening through next Monday) WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Increasing clouds have continued across portions of eastern and central Nevada this afternoon. Some instability exists and have prompted isolated thunderstorms to form across eastern Elko county. These cells are currently moving to the south and west at about 20 to 25 mph. These cells are producing a few strikes here and there with gusts to 35 mph seen thus far. Some of the cells could grow in strength later this afternoon and evening with wind gusts to 50 mph possible. The activity will wane this evening with clouds scattering out just after midnight. Low temperatures tonight will dip into the 30s and 40s. The upper trough that passed over the area will continue moving to the south and closing off over Baja California later tomorrow. Rising heights due to an upper level high pressure system will be in store for northern and central Nevada. Skies are expected to be mostly sunny with highs in the 60s and 70s. Winds will be out of the north with some gusts to 25 mph. Continued dry conditions expected during the overnight with lows in the 30s and 40s. Thursday through the weekend, models are showing upper ridging maintaining a grip on the weather across the area through the period. This will mean temperatures will climb to above normal levels through about Friday with readings in the 70s and 80s. Overnight lows will be in the 30s and 40s. Winds will be breezy each afternoon with gusts to 25 mph. By Sunday, high temperatures will climb even more with readings in the 80s for the most part. A few near record temperatures may be possible Sunday. FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Confidence remains high through the overnight with the showers and thunderstorms. Confidence in the warmup through the period continues at a moderate level. No changes were made to the NBM forecast. && .AVIATION...ISOLD -TSRA remains the threat through the early evening hours across the eastern terminals with gusts to 40KT possible with any storm. In addition, any storm could bring temporary MVFR conditions in the heavier showers with some BLDU possible. Otherwise, look for VFR conditions tomorrow with some breezes to 20KT. && .FIRE WEATHER... A few strong thunderstorms are expected during this afternoon and into this evening. The primary thunderstorm hazards will be wind gusts near 50 mph and dangerous cloud to ground lightning strikes. The most likely area for thunderstorms will be in Southern Elko County, Northern White Pine County, and Eureka County.
