- Look for cooler temperatures this weekend across NE Montana

  along with chances for light rain showers at times.



- Mild and dry weather expected to return early next week.



- Additional rain chances look to enter the scene by late Tuesday

  into Wednesday. Again, precipitation generally looks light.

.DISCUSSION...



WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: 



Cooler temperatures will be in place over the CWA for the weekend

with spotty light rain shower chances at times. Meanwhile,

ensemble 500mb heights look to carve out the next ridge pattern

over the Western U.S. for early next week with a return to dry and

mild weather conditions.



This ridge however looks to quickly flatten with embedded

shortwaves tracking through the region from the west. These will

provide enough forcing for ascent for scattered rain coverage

again by about Tuesday night into Wednesday. Cooler temperatures

look to follow the shortwave action late in the week as conditions

dry out.

 



FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:



Near term winds were adjusted to include a third NBM90 to better

reflect the interpolation from current observations expected to

continue today. Otherwise, NBM guidance worked remarkably well for

producing a fairly progressive pattern with fluctuating

temperatures and occasional precipitation chances during the

balance of the upcoming week. Will caution however given the

spotty coverage and light nature of the precipitation chances at

times this week, confidence on exact locations and amounts is

below average despite agreement on the synoptic view.

DISCUSSION: VFR conditions through the TAF cycle. Mostly cloudy

skies will tend to prevail through the period, along with isolated

to scattered light rain chances.



WIND: West to northwest at 15 to 25 kts, decreasing to 5 to 10 kt

tonight. Winds look to switch north and northeast during the 

evening hours.
