KEY MESSAGES: - A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 am this morning for areas along and east of MT 24. - Another chance for wintry mix is forecast for today. - Otherwise, dry and mild weather is expected starting on Wednesday and continue through the weekend. WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: A warm front will move east across the forecast area this morning while a cold front will drop south from Canada this afternoon as a shortwave trough the area on NW flow aloft. Low clouds and dense fog has covered areas east of Opheim, Glasgow and Terry overnight and is expected to linger into the daylight hours of this morning. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 10 am this morning. Meanwhile, the warm front this morning will bring a chance of a wintry mix of light rain, freezing rain and light snow depending on temperatures. Then, the cold front this afternoon will bring a chance of light rain and light snow mainly in the east. Cloud cover over most of the forecast area tonight will limit the chances for fog across the area. Upper ridge will build into the area on Wednesday with very warm air for early February. Lingering snow cover in the north will limit temperatures there. At this point. Thursday is expected to be the warmest day ahead of a dry back door cold front Thursday night. Temperatures will be somewhat cooler on Friday but still well above normal. The above normal temperatures will continue through the weekend dry weather. FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Confidence is LOW in freezing rain possibilities across portions of the area this tomorrow morning and low on precipitation chances this afternoon. DISCUSSION: A stationary front overnight from Whitewater to Glasgow to Terry allowed low clouds to set up in these locations and areas to the east of this line. Dense fog and low clouds has brought LIFR and VLIFR condition overnight which will continue until 15 to 17Z this morning. The front will move east as a warm front this morning and push the low clouds to the east and lift the fog. There will be a chance of light snow or freezing rain with the warm front this morning. Conditions will improve to VFR by late morning with a mix of low and mid level clouds. A cold front will move south across the region this afternoon with chances for light rain or light snow in the east. Low clouds with the front will bring MVFR ceilings for most of the TAF sites tonight. KGGW has a good chance of remaining VFR.
