FXUS65 KFGZ 212017 AFDFGZ Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ 117 PM MST Sat Mar 21 2026 .SYNOPSIS...Summer-like high pressure will continue into next week, with temperatures reaching up to 25 degrees above normal. Please exercise appropriate precautions if you are planning on any outdoor activity. Breezy southwest winds and low humidity are also expected. && .DISCUSSION...A trough moving across the northern part of the country will flatten out our record breaking ridge over the next couple days which will drop our temperatures back about 5 degrees. However despite this minor cooldown, we are still in record breaking territory for the next week with temperatures warming up again midweek as the ridge starts flexing back north. Unfortunately no precipitation is in sight for the next week. Low humidity continues to dry out our fuels in the national forests but luckily the winds have been staying light enough that we're not reaching any Red Flag criteria at this time. Having said that, with the higher amount of people using the forest and fleeing the lower desert heat at this time, please use caution with any type of open flame activities at the campgrounds. && .AVIATION...Saturday 21/18Z through Sunday 22/18Z...Look for VFR conditions. Winds SW to W at 10-15 kts with gusts 20-25 kts through 03Z, becoming light and variable thereafter. OUTLOOK...Sunday 22/18Z through Tuesday 24/18Z...VFR conditions with winds SW to W at 5-15 kts gusting to around 20 kts each day. Winds generally light and variable overnight periods. && .FIRE WEATHER...Sunday and Monday...Very dry and just a bit cooler with record high temperatures continuing. Southwest winds 5-10 mph gusting to 20 mph, with minimum RH values ranging from 5-12% each afternoon. Tuesday through Thursday...Little change in high temperatures. Daytime winds west-southwest at 10-15 mph, with gusts 20-25 mph. Minimum RH values 7-13% each afternoon. The continuation of unseasonable heat and very dry conditions will dry out fuels with elevated fire weather conditions possible. && .FGZ WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
