FXUS65 KFGZ 060333 AFDFGZ Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ 833 PM MST Sat Apr 5 2025 .SYNOPSIS...Shower activity has decreased across northern Arizona this evening, with little to no precipitation expected across the area after midnight. High pressure and dry weather return on Sunday, with much warmer temperatures through next week. && .UPDATE...The low pressure system that brought periods of rain and snow to northern Arizona over the last few days has moved well east of the area. With the lack of dynamics and daytime heating, shower activity has quickly diminished across northern Arizona this evening. By midnight tonight, little to no precipitation is expected, with dry conditions and a warming trend forecast through next week. && .PREV DISCUSSION /448 PM MST/...Cold and moist northeasterly flow continues over the eastern half of Arizona this afternoon, on the west side of the upper low that has affected our region all week. Daytime instability is leading to scattered showers over portions of Navajo and Apache counties, moving toward the south- southwest. Locally heavy snow showers are impacting parts of Hwy 264 between Ganado and Window Rock, and parts of the White Mountains. Above freezing temperatures and the higher sun angles this time of year are keeping most roadways clear, though some are getting slushy or snow covered at least briefly in the heaviest showers. Expect this activity to continue through early to mid evening, with a stray shower possible as far west as Flagstaff and Payson. Showers should end later in the evening as the low continues to move farther east of the state. Sunday - high pressure will begin to build in from the west with dry weather returning. Daytime temperatures will be 5-10 degrees warmer than today, but still a bit below normal for this time of year. Monday through Friday - high pressure continues to build over the southwest United States. Dry weather will persist over our region. Daytime temperatures will warm a few degrees each day, likely peaking on Thursday and Friday when highs will be within a couple degrees of daily records. && .AVIATION...Sunday 06/00Z through Monday 07/00Z...VFR conditions are expected.
