An unseasonably strong upper level ridge will continue to impact the southwest United States over the next few days. Breezy conditions and low relative humidities will be of concern in Harney County for fire danger this afternoon and Friday afternoon. Record high temperatures expected across southeast OR and southwest ID today and Friday. Temperatures will be 20-25 degrees above normal, with the lowest valleys seeing low to mid 80s and the mountains reaching the 60s through Friday. The upper level ridge will be suppressed on Saturday as a cold front moves across the area. Temperatures will lower around 10-15 degrees on Sunday. Breezy west-northwest winds Saturday afternoon following the front. && .LONG TERM /Sunday through Thursday/... Following the cold frontal passage in the short-term, dry zonal to northwest flow will usher in cooler temperatures come Sunday (although leaning above normal). Temperatures will take on a warming trend through Tuesday, as our area gets into the warm sector of an approaching Gulf of Alaska low. Come Tuesday, temperatures will be up to 15-20 degrees above normal. Confidence is increasing on the evolution of the next system, as a shortwave and associated cold front cross over our area Wednesday into Thursday. Temperatures on Wednesday will depend on the exact timing of this front, thus there is still uncertainty. A earlier frontal passage would drop temperatures closer to normal, whereas a later passage would keep temperatures above normal a little longer. The best chance for precipitation (30-60%) with this front will come Wednesday over the terrain in our northern zones. Gusty winds will also accompany the frontal passage. seasonable temps and dry conditions will follow the cold front come Thursday. && .AVIATION /18Z Thursday through Friday/...
