.SHORT TERM /Through Thursday Night/...

As high pressure builds over the area, hotter and drier weather

continues over the forecast area. A warming trend through

Thursday brings temperatures from 5-10 degrees below normal up

to 5-10 degrees above normal by Thursday afternoon. Widespread

smoke throughout the region will help keeps temps a few degrees

cooler than most models indicate. However, air quality remains

unhealthy for many areas. Air quality alerts have been issued

for Southeast Oregon and Southwest Idaho. Some mild improvement

to smoke is expected each day as mixing occurs in the afternoon.

.LONG TERM /Friday through Tuesday/...

A ridge of high pressure will 

remain over Utah on Friday and Saturday. Temperatures will be 5-10 

degrees above normal with lower valleys near 100 degrees Friday and 

Saturday. Monsoon moisture will reach far SE Oregon and southwest ID 

south of the Snake Basin on Friday afternoon. Current forecast does 

not reflect this but there will be a slight chance of thunderstorms 

along the NV border on Friday and Saturday afternoons. Westerly flow 

will suppress the ridge on Sunday and Monday, bringing slightly 

cooler temperatures with dry and breezy conditions. Smoky conditions 

will continue from area wildfires which may keep temperatures 

slightly cooler than forecast.

smoke. Surface winds: NW 5-10kt becoming SE 5-10kt after sunset.
