FXUS64 KSJT 070453 AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Angelo TX 1153 PM CDT Sun Apr 6 2025 ...New AVIATION... .KEY MESSAGES... - A widespread, light freeze is expected early Monday morning. - The week ahead looks quiet for our area weather-wise, with temperatures much warmer overall and dry conditions. && .SHORT TERM... (This evening through Monday) Issued at 147 PM CDT Sun Apr 6 2025 Post-frontal cold air advection continues early this afternoon, as breezy north winds continue and temperatures were only in the mid to upper 40s for the most part. Visible satellite showed areas of low to mid level clouds across the I-10 corridor and Heartland, while skies are clearing out elsewhere. Highs today look to only reach around the mid to upper 50s. Tonight, clear skies, light winds and somewhat dry conditions (dewpoints in the mid to upper 20s) will result in good conditions for radiational cooling. Model guidance, including the NBM, are notoriously too warm during good radiational cooling nights/mornings, so have undercut the NBM by a few degrees for the early Monday morning low temperatures. This means lows in the low 30s, so Freeze Warnings have been issued for most of West Central Texas, except for the mid 30s in Crockett, Nolan, Fisher, Jones and Taylor counties where Frost Advisories have been issued. Warming will occur Monday as the 850 mb thermal ridge strengthens and sunny skies prevail. Forecast highs Monday are in the upper 60s to around 70. && .LONG TERM... (Monday night through next Sunday) Issued at 147 PM CDT Sun Apr 6 2025 Another cold morning is forecast on Tuesday, but not quite as cold as forecast temperatures for Monday morning. Good radiational cooling conditions will result in lows in the mid 30s to lower 40s. Temperatures are forecast to warm up nicely through the day, with afternoon highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Warm and breezy conditions are expected on Wednesday with highs in the mid to upper 80s. A weak upper level trough will track across the Northern Plains on Wednesday, sending a weak cold front through West Central Texas Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Breezy north winds along with slightly cooler temperatures can be expected behind the front. Highs on Thursday will be in the lower 80s across the Big Country to the mid to upper 80s elsewhere. Highs on Friday will be very similar to forecast highs Thursday, with a return to much warmer temperatures next weekend. Highs on Sunday will likely be in the lower 90s, with some locations approaching the mid 90s. No rain is forecast through the extended forecast. && .AVIATION...
