(This afternoon through Wednesday) Issued at 1253 PM CST Tue Feb 3 2026 A cold front has moved through the area early this afternoon, bringing gusty north winds. Temperatures are also a few degrees cooler, and along with the winds is resulting in chillier conditions than yesterday. For tonight, winds will diminish to less than 10 mph out of the north/northeast, and lows will drop into the low to mid 30s. On Wednesday, another weak push of cooler air will keep winds out of the north, and keep temperatures near normal with highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s in most areas. && .LONG TERM... (Wednesday night through next Tuesday) Issued at 228 PM CST Tue Feb 3 2026 On Thursday west central Texas will be situated between a broad upper level ridge over the western U.S. and an upper level trough over the eastern U.S. This will result in dry northerly flow aloft. Shortwave ridging then builds into our area over the weekend. This will result in warm and dry conditions across the Southern Plains. Temperatures will warm into the upper 70s on Saturday and Sunday, with some spots even hitting 80 degrees. The mild temperatures will continue into the beginning of next week. Models are still in disagreement on the timing and strength of an upper level trough swinging across the Southern Plains early next week. Will continue to keep PoPs in the 20-30% range until models come into better agreement with the pattern for next week. && .AVIATION...
