(Today through tonight) Issued at 1145 PM CST Mon Feb 2 2026 A upper-level disturbance will track southward alongside a broad upper-level trough off to our east today, with an associated surface cold front entering the Big Country early this morning and diving southward throughout the day today. With this frontal passage, already lingering breezy south to southwest wind will quickly shift to northerly and become increasingly gusty this morning through this afternoon. Winds are expected to range from 15 to 20 mpg with gusts as high as 30 mph with the frontal passage today. Strongest winds are expected across the Big Country later this morning. High temperatures for today will remain similar to yesterday, in the 60s. However in the wake of the cold front, overnight lows tonight will slightly drop back into the low to mid 30s into early Wednesday morning. Current satellite imagery is showing some low stratus south and east of a Junction to Brownwood line, where a few spots of patchy fog could be briefly observed early this morning. && .LONG TERM... (Wednesday through next Tuesday) Issued at 1145 PM CST Mon Feb 2 2026 A secondary surge of cooler air will push through West Central Texas Wednesday morning, resulting in gusty north winds and reinforcing the cooler temperatures. Highs on Wednesday will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s across the Big Country to the low to mid 60s elsewhere. Clear skies and light winds overnight will result in good radiational cooling conditions. Thursday morning lows will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s for most locations. A steady warm up is then forecast Thursday into the weekend as weak upper level ridging builds across the region. Highs on Thursday will be in the 60s, with highs on Friday back into the lower 70s. Highs on Saturday will be in the mid to upper 70s, although a few locations could approach 80. Overnight lows will generally be in the 40s. The next upper level trough/low will approach the forecast area late this weekend into early next week. This may bring our next chance of rain, but confidence remains low so have kept PoPs low for now, in the 20 to 30 percent range. && .AVIATION... Southerly winds have started to shift to northerly behind front this morning, becoming increasingly breezy through this afternoon. North to northeasterly winds behind the front will range from 10 to 15 kts, with gusts up to 25 kts through early this afternoon.
